Miner’s Climb

Location: Boulder, Colorado | View Gallery

Description: Tucked into the side of a mountain, the design of this home was inspired by the historical mining vernacular found throughout Colorado. The blend between the natural, rich grain of wood and sleek metal accents provide an industrial ambiance both inside and out. The timber frame scissor-truss bents crafted by local company, Colorado Timberframe, utilize both mortise and tenon joinery and steel plate reinforcement, becoming the focal point throughout the main level. In addition, a towered entrance, embellished with glass panels and steel rods, reflect the forms of an old mineshaft structure.
