Description: Site planning, client aspirations, and budget control all required respect and attention during the design-build process. The final design resulted in a 4,222 square foot mid-century modern inspired mountain house nestled into the mountainside, merging forms and functions together to blend dynamically with the surrounding landscaping. Unlike traditional timber frame homes with open layouts and soaring ceilings, the homeowners preferred that their living spaces feel intimate and cozy yet bright and open to the outdoors. To accomplish this, the home was designed with ample glazing but lower ceiling heights and division between rooms. Careful planning and future-proof design choices were taken into consideration with the addition of a three-story elevator, allowing the homeowners to age in place comfortably with increased accessibility.
